Korean war was an important turning point for the evolution of the military uniform, the soldiers had to deal with a crazy cold weather, so in order to keep them warm the quartermaster invented a new and revolutionary system of stratification and layering. They basically adopted liners for mostly every garments, so the uniform was okay to be used in the winter and also in the summer, by simply removing the internal liner. 

Here an amazing deadstock piece dated December 1952 (as you can see in the photos), a super cool M51 trouser, in that case just the shell not complete with liner. 

This trouser came in a big size, but the waist can be regulated with the side tabs. 

A beautiful item that is very interesting to mix with classic shoes.
